Flautokruhy
Flautokruhy - Summer recorder workshop in Banská Štiavnica and harpsichord master classes
The flute workshop is focused on playing in an ensemble under the guidance of French lecturers Robin Troman and Bertrand Blondet. Both lecturers have extensive concert experience, experience in conducting and leading several early music ensembles in France, but also in presenting new compositions by contemporary authors. The theme of this year is English music of the 16th-17th centuries in the works of composers Tallis, Holborn, Ferrabosco, Purcell, etc.
Flautokruhov includes harpsichord masterclasses led by Philippe Ramin - an excellent French musician, teacher and sought-after accompanist who has many music recordings to his credit. The harpsichord course consists of an active and a passive part. The teaching is divided into several blocks, whose daily periodicity contributes to in-depth penetration into the issue of playing the harpsichord.
Topics: introduction to basso continuo accompaniment, ornamentation - differences in European music, score analysis, improvisation around the general bass, maintenance of the instrument.
Conditions
The flute workshop is intended for talented SATB recorder players, students of music schools, amateurs, but also teachers and leaders of chamber ensembles who want to improve their playing on this instrument, penetrate deeper into the knowledge of the historically informed interpretation of Renaissance and Baroque compositions, and become a part of large flute orchestra. It is attended by players from 10 years of age, exceptionally even younger. The decisive factor is the level of the player and his ability to practice the material played within 1 week.
Harpsichord master classes are intended for advanced students of playing keyboard instruments, students of high schools and universities with a musical focus, teachers and tutors. Previous experience playing the harpsichord is not a requirement.

In the first morning block, in the form of informal lectures, explanations and presentation of examples, we will focus on topics such as instrument maintenance and tuning, French, Italian, German, English ornamentation - differences in European music, score analysis - peculiarities of old musical notations in different periods.
The second morning block represents the active part. Participants are practically involved in working out assignments and solving small tasks on topics such as an introduction to the basso continuo accompaniment or improvisation around the general bass.
Afternoons are dedicated to the practical part, open classes, where active participants work with the lecturer on pre-prepared scores with the participation of observers - passive participants. At this level, the harpsichord is also connected with the flute and common compositions are practiced in chamber groups of players.
The culmination of the Flute Circles is a flute ensemble concert together with selected participants of harpsichord classes, lecturers and musical guests.
At the end, participants will receive a certificate of course completion.
